The addition of a full service grocery store to the downtown area of State Center has literally changed the lives of people in this area. And not just the people in State Center; people from the western half of Marshall and the eastern portions Story county use the facility as well. According to someone who works in the store, they average over 250 individual sales per day. Assuming that some percentage, maybe 20%, walk to the store, that means this facility has been responsible for an additional 200 vehicle trips into the commercial district each day. Existing businesses have benefited from this additional traffic and it has enabled State Center to attract several new businesses, including an antique store,a health and fitness center,laundromat and beauty salon.
Thanks to the State Center Development Association for taking on this project and bringing it to completion. Thanks to State Center Main Street for making sure the facility fit into the State Center Commercial Historic District. Thanks to Lyndon Johnson for operating the facility. And thanks to the City of State Center for its support for the project. There are no doubt many other groups and individuals who need to be thanked too!
